Mayor Duterte Directs Security Briefing for Barangay Caravan Team

Davao City –Mayor Sara Duterte in recognition to the perils in the profession in the aftermath of the reported landmine explosion in Barangay Paquibato Sunday morning emphasized the need for a security briefing for her barangay caravan team.

“Akong i-ensure nga naa silay security briefing (I will ensure security briefing to take place) especially that some of them are women”, Mayor Duterte said.

A barangay caravan was scheduled in time for the Araw ng Paquibato Proper but the trip was immediately cancelled by the mayor who heard of reports on explosion.

“I was informed that there was a landmine nibuto sa Paquibato and I decided to call off everybody kadtong pasaka na sa Paquibato including the police and to call off the caravan”, Duterte said. She continued, “I did not want to endanger the lives of government employees who are going up mao tong gipanaug nako tanan ug gipa stop na nako kadtong padulong na didto”.

Meanwhile, Richard Necessario who heads the Barangay Caravan Team said this whole-day activity with the barangay which started in 2008 follows a platform on delivery of basic services in the morning and Pahalipay ni Mayor in the afternoon which includes entertainment and games for children.

Necessario said the inter-agency caravan includes the following government offices: General Services Office for the sound system; Sports Office for sports clinic; City Civil Registrar’s Office for late registration of birth and legitimation; City Health Office for medical and dental services; City Agriculturist’s Office for the distribution of seedlings and orientation on organic farming; City Engineer’s Office for the repair of roads and technical advise for barangay projects; City Social Services and Development Office through the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs for the accreditation and distribution of Senior Citizens ID’s; City Veterinarian for vaccination of domesticated animals; Traffic Management Center for the briefing on road safety and of the city’s traffic laws for drivers and pedestrians; City Assessor’s Office for the assessment for tax purposes of land; City Legal Office for notarization and other legal assistance; City Treasurer’s Office for the issuance of Community Tax Certificate; and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office for the orientation on waste segregation and proper garbage disposal.
